This course provides a training in sociology of the internet and an exploration on the social impact of information and communication technologies. For those who already have a training in social science, this course will consolidate competencies in science and technology studies, social network analysis, and sociology of media and communication. If you do not have a background in social science, you will acquire knowledge of key sociological notions applied to digital technologies: online identity, virtual community, social networking, online social capital, AI-assisted work/cooperation, communication norms, privacy by design, internet as a public space, connective and collective action ...

This course requires you to be fluent in English (written and spoken) as your assessments will be carried out via oral exposés, readings, reports, online contribution, and pop quizzes.

The ultimate goal is to allow you to develop a critical distance from your own use of digital technologies, which will be systematically transferable to professional context.
