Urban areas are magnets for talented individuals and high-productivity firms, yet they are also hotspots of severe income inequality, housing shortages, and environmental costs. This course unpacks the dynamics that make cities engines of growth and, at the same time, sites of deep divides.
Along the course, students will acquire tools to understand—and critically debate—public policies aimed at rebalancing urban growth, reducing spatial disparities both within and across cities, and shaping a more sustainable urban future.
