Topic outline

  • Welcome to the 5th year Pharmaceutical Industry English course 2024-25.

The teacher responsible for this English year is anita.owens@universite-paris-saclay.fr

This year your teachers are Mrs. Fadel (room 405), Mr. Danan (Room 407) and Mrs Owens (Room 409).

In September you will find here the groups into which you have been divided. Each case study is on the same hours so you can have meetings before or after your English class. Classes are from 2 to 4pm and from 4:15 to 6:15pm on Thursday. Groups are inverted as of the end of the first semester (end of January). During first semester we will be on 4th floor.

    • Your English classes will soon resume at the university. They will always be on Thursday afternoon and always at the new "Centre de Langues" in the Eiffel building and on 4th floor during the first semester. When you come out of H. Moissan building at BPC take a left hand turn and walk down till after the IUT. Cross the lovely gardens, enter the Eiffel building and cross it diagonaly . You will see elevators and stair cases indicating "Centre de langue".  This little walk will take about 10 minutes so please make sure you leave early to be on time to class.

      The teachers of 5th year 2024-25 are Mrs.Owens, Mrs.Fadel and Mr.Danan.

The English groups are not organized by level but by Case study groups. The poles are mixed up giving you the opportunity to work with other students and interact. Your first class will be on  September 26, 2024 at 2 pm for groups A/B/C and at 4:15 pm for groups D/E/F.

For each lesson, in the Vocabulary section, you will have a list of vocabulary that you will have to study for each lesson. The vocabulary test will be given every 2 lessons in class and must be caught up before class if you were absent in the previous class. The other exams will be caught up during 'English4you' sessions on Monday at lunch time, even if justified.

If you cannot come to class, are sick or cannot participate for other reasons, please remember that you have to give your teacher a justification (doctor's justification, drivers test, accident insurance papers, death certificate...) We would prefer you be healthy and come to our classes.

Please have the brochure printed before your first class by your parents, friends, yourself or the corpo but please bring a paper copy to class with you as you will need to have it in order to work on the exercises and thus progress.

The week before the Case Study, English rehearsal sessions are organised at the Language dept, usually spread over the afternoons and run by the 3 teachers of the 5th Year Industry English teaching team.

In the general section you will find documents, links and other things to further your knowledge of English on your own.

In the general section you will find what is done in class along with the videos.  Under the section with the name of your teacher, you will find other documents that were used in class or that the teacher wishes you to study at home.
