The importance of having a script

Scripting lectures can be an unnatural step for experienced instructors accustomed to teaching classes in their first language. However, it can be an essential process if you are delivering a course in English for the first time (English being your second language). Writing a script can improve speech flow, prevent hesitations, and allow for the incorporation of storytelling techniques. It also provides an opportunity to find the right terminology, avoid repetition and hesitations, and include pronunciation cues. Despite having a script, instructors are not expected to read it verbatim in class. Rehearsing the script will help instructors deliver the message accurately and fluently, even with different wording.
