Today we had a vocabulary test for vocab 1 and 2 followed by a very interesting presentation on Immunotheray treatments.

Then we worked on the parts of the body on page 19 followed by the reading of the article on the new missions the NHS is giving to pharmacists in the UK.

Here are the answers to the questions on the text:

Why was the pharmacy first advanced service put in place?

The main aim is to save up to 10 million general practice team appointments a year and help patients access quicker and more convenient care. They are also hoping to provide healthcare in areas where there aren’t enough doctors.

What does it consist of?

Patients can visit the pharmacy, have a video consultation, or be referred by their GP. In a confidential consultation, the pharmacist will ask about their health, including medical history, allergies, current medications, and symptoms. With consent, the pharmacist may check accessible patient records and, for some conditions, perform an examination. They will then recommend the best treatment and document the consultation, sharing it with GPs to update the patient's record.

Pharmacy consultation outcomes can be captured in the patient record which will mean that practice staff can review consultation information and add the data to the patient record with one click of a button. These records will be visible to both physicians / family doctors and pharmacists.

We then reviewed the symptoms of the sicknesses and role played being a patient in the pharmacy.
